The Aglovu Sound
42" X 47.75"
Engraving inks and oils on hardboard

At the sound of Aglovu (the big drum), does not sound without a cause. (It sounds as a result of some event)

Aglovu is a drum associated with the activities of chiefs and it is used to announce the advent or the passing by of a chief, or to announce any important happening in the chief's house. Every happening has a cause and so no effect should be taken for granted.

Lè ou rive yon kote ou wè tout moun ap danse sou yon pye, danse sou yon pye tou.

When you get to aplace and you see that they danse on one foot, danse as them, on one foot. (Haiti)
